Belgian Waffle Makers usually come with some standard waffle recipes, but why not expand your horizons and try something a little different. If you are looking for something exotic try the recipe for Wild Rice and Pecan Waffles. If you are looking for something healthy, then the Whole Grain Waffle recipe is what you'll want to try.
You will need to have a Waffle Maker for both of these recipes.
Wild Rice and Pecan Belgian Waffles:
1 Cup - All Purpose Flour
1/2 Tsp - salt
1 Tsp - baking powder
2/3 Cup - Milk
1/4 Cup - Vegetable Oil
2 Eggs
1 1/2 Cups - Cooked Wild Rice
1/2 Cup - Chopped Pecans
Directions:
1) Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl
2) Separate egg yolks from whites (keep both!)
3) In a mixing bowl beat yolks, milk and oil
4) Stir dry ingredients in milk/egg mixture
5) In a separate bowl beat egg whites until stiff peaks form
6) Fold whites, rice, and pecans into the batter
7) Heat and grease your Belgian Waffle Maker according to manufacturer's instructions
8) Cook Waffles until golden brown
Whole Grain Belgian Waffles:
2 - Eggs
1/4 Cup - Canola Oil
1/4 Cup - Unsweetened Apple Sauce
1 3/4 Cups - Skim Milk
1 Tsp - Vanilla Extract
1 Cup - Whole Wheat Pastry Flour
1/4 Cup - All Purpose Flour
1/4 Cup - Wheat Germ
1/2 Cup - Flax Seed Meal
4 Tsps - Baking Powder
1 Tbsp - Sugar
1/4 Tsp - Salt
Directions:
1) Beat eggs.
2) Add oil, apple sauce, milk and vanilla to eggs and whisk together.
3) Add remaining ingredients and beat together until batter is smooth.
4) Preheat Belgian Waffle Maker and coat with cooking spray.
5) Pour batter into Belgian Waffle Maker in batches and cook until crisp and golden brown.
